Dr Briony Roberts

Clinical Fellow

Briony is a Clinical Psychologist with a strong interest in the mind-body connection and the role of the heart in psychological health and wellbeing. Briony also has a particular interest in working with individuals to address underlying life issues that may be contributing to their experience of physical and psychological symptoms and distress. Briony’s other key areas of interest are self- identity, existential issues, and anxiety.

Briony holds a Bachelor of Behavioural Science degree with Honours and a Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree. Briony is an Endorsed Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and is also a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and the College of Clinical Psychologists.

Briony has research experience across the areas of eating disorders and adjustment to physical health issues, with her research having explored issues such as ageing, family relationships, mindfulness, acceptance, emotions, and mood.

Briony uses a range of evidence based psychological treatment approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy. Her therapeutic approach is also influenced by concepts from Psychodynamic and Existential models of therapy, and Attachment Theory. Briony has a keen interest in spirituality and Positive Psychology and in helping people to learn mindfulness and self-compassion skills.
